As a company committed to transforming the commercial insurance sector, Send has positioned itself as a market leader by leveraging advanced technology to streamline operations for insurers. The Engineering Manager will play a pivotal role in the company’s growth, ensuring that engineering teams meet their sprint goals, deliver high-quality products and adhere to agile best practices.
This position is more than just technical oversight; it involves mentoring engineers, enhancing their professional development and strategically influencing the technology roadmap.
With a focus on continuous improvement, this role requires a strong leader who can balance the demands of engineering excellence with business priorities, fostering a collaborative work environment that drives innovation.
Send operates as a remote-first company, offering employees the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK, while also maintaining an office in London’s Monument district for those who prefer an in-person workspace. This approach underscores Send’s commitment to modern, flexible working environments, which have become crucial in today’s tech landscape. Engineering teams at Send are cross-functional, meaning they include professionals from different domains – frontend, backend, DevOps and quality assurance – all collaborating to build highly scalable, efficient software solutions.
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for ensuring that these teams work seamlessly, delivering robust software solutions while maintaining a high standard of code quality, security and performance. As Send prepares for its Series B funding round, the role will be instrumental in scaling operations, improving developer experience and driving the adoption of cutting-edge technologies. Engineering decisions at Send are data-driven, meaning that managers must track key performance metrics, analyze team health and ensure that engineering goals align with the broader business objectives.
The company has successfully navigated rapid growth, expanding from a bootstrapped startup to a global company with employees in the UK, Poland, the US and India. This international expansion highlights the need for an Engineering Manager who can coordinate across time zones, foster cross-cultural collaboration and ensure that all engineering efforts contribute to Send’s long-term success in the insurance technology sector.
A strong candidate for this role will have a proven track record in software engineering leadership, with experience in system architecture, agile development and team management. More importantly, they must exhibit strong mentorship skills, as one of the key expectations of the role is to nurture engineering talent and help team members advance their careers. At Send, professional growth is a priority and the Engineering Manager will play a direct role in supporting engineers through mentorship, feedback and opportunities for learning. By focusing on continuous improvement, the Engineering Manager will refine internal processes, improve developer efficiency and ensure that Send maintains its reputation for delivering high-quality software solutions to its clients.
Finally, the Engineering Manager will act as a bridge between technical and business teams, ensuring that the company’s engineering strategy aligns with its overall vision.
